Johnny Miller designed this course to some day host a PGA Tour event. I doubt that will ever happen, not that the course isn't good enough or anything like that because it is.
Thanksgiving Point golf course is very long and challenging. Slope is 145 and the rating is a whopping 77.6. Like bunkers? There are 55 acres of sand.
Many holes present large elevation changes. The fairways feature many large undulations and hills with large bunkering. The greens are large and have some severe sloping and hills in the complexes around them. Bunkers guarding the greens are very difficult to navigate.
The 22,000 square foot clubhouse is large and nicely appointed, as is the proshop inside. Up until a few years ago, you couldn't golf at this course on a Sunday and you couldn't buy beer. That has changed.
This is a tough, championship course. Bring your "A" game. Be ready for wind as well. This course can be one of the most windy courses in the state.
